Welcome Career Days | Job Fair 2023

Description: The Committee for Development of Skills and Empowerment through Work – Livelihoods of the Athens Coordination Center for Migrant and Refugee issues (ACCMR) with the support of the International Organization for Migration under the HELIOS program and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, organized the 3rd WELCOME 2023 Career Days. The aim of the Career Days is to link companies with job seekers, regardless of gender, age, nationality, sexual orientation etc. It is an opportunity for the participants to connect with representatives of companies and to know the Greek labor market. Moreover, it is an opportunity for companies to conduct interviews with candidates and collect CVs that might meet the qualifications for various positions.

Target Audience: Job Seekers regardless of nationality, religion, age, gender, sexual orientation. Migrants, Refugees and Asylum Seekers. Companies and Businesses.
Impact: A great number of local actors and international organizations collaborated through a cross-sectoral cooperation in order for this Job Fair to take place. More specifically the participating organizations were: IOM, Migrant Integration Center of the City of Athens (KEM), UNHCR, ACCMR (Athens Coordinator Center for Migrant and Refugee Issues) ActionAid, Caritas Hellas, CRS, International Rescue Committee (IRC), ITHACA, METAdrasi, Nostos, Solidarity Now. 42 companies from various sectors participated in the Job Fair, completing more than 2.500 interviews in 2 days and creating a Job-finding “window” for more than 500 refugee and migrant candidates.
Challenges Faced: Since many of the candidates are parents, childcare was provided during the interview in order for them to be given the opportunity to be interviewed.
